The Chapel Lodge ‘One of Basingstoke’s few impressive sights: a delightful building tucked away behind the railway station, which I passed on the way to a pub stand-up night. It is the Cemetery Lodge, which stands at the entrance to Basingstoke’s Holy Ghost Chapel grounds. To my shame I have never visited it before; looking at what little information I found about it online, I think I shall have to correct this soon. I mean, heck - the fact a woman was buried alive here is local legend!’ PRINT AVAILABLE

Leeds Corn Exchange (Tilt Shift Experiment): I’ve come across a few tilt-shift photographs lately, and the medium fascinates me, so when I StumbledUpon a tutorial for mocking this effect up in Photoshop, I thought I’d give it a whirl. I’ve used one of the few photographs I’ve taken from a higher vantage point: Leeds Corn Exchange in November, 2006. I reckon I must have been stood outside its quite respectable gothwear shop when I took this photo - its name escapes me. My guess is that the effect is much more pronounced in street scenes, where the enhanced sheen on cars in particular can really lend to that uncanny feeling, of looking upon a model. Still, I enjoyed the process, and I thought I might as well share my result. Pointers are definitely welcome!

St Duntan-in-the-East Once I’d gathered up my photos from this, a day trip out with my friend from the States, it was somewhat inevitable I’d have to turn out a greyscale image of this gothic church site!St. Dunstan-in-the-East is a remarkable garden, at a church which was built in medieval times, ravaged in 1666, rebuilt soon after and then got at by Nazi bombs. Harrumph. Still, it now stands as a dreamy garden. It was a pleasure to visit, and gave me an ideal opportunity to really study those gothic patterns in the windows.
